Global Travel Tech, the new voice for the world’s leading travel technology companies, is pleased to announce the election of Jean-Philippe Monod de Froideville as its new Chair. Jean-Philippe, currently the Senior Vice President of Global Government & Corporate Affairs at Expedia Group, brings extensive experience to this role.
“I am honoured to be elected chair of Global Travel Tech. Together, we can harness technology to create a more transparent, competitive, and sustainable travel industry,” said Jean-Philippe.
Advocating for Global Policy Solutions
Global Travel Tech is dedicated to advocating for comprehensive global policy solutions that benefit both service providers and travelers. Key areas of focus include digital competition, fair and non-discriminatory access to data for intermediaries, data privacy, fair digital taxation, and regulatory sustainability. The association also aims to coordinate responses to crises, enhancing the resilience of the travel and tourism ecosystem.
“By working with global industry bodies such as the OECD and UN Tourism, we aim to shape smart policies and foster initiatives that make the travel industry more competitive and transparent,” stated Emmanuel Mounier, Secretary General of Global Travel Tech.
Promoting Fair Data Access and Sustainability
A primary objective of Global Travel Tech is to promote fair data access. “Access to data allows travelers to easily find, compare, and book travel options that best meet their needs,” added Jean-Philippe. “This enables travel intermediaries to provide tailored combinations of transport, accommodations, and services.”
Additionally, Global Travel Tech underscores the importance of data in promoting sustainable travel. Consistent and reliable data on the environmental footprint of various transport and accommodation options enables travelers to make greener choices and incentivizes further decarbonization within the industry.
